Made the drive up to find the secret hole packed, and I mean packed with guys. Caught one on my 2nd cast and I thought, uh, oh, here comes a banner day….that was the only fish I got there. Did see maybe 5 other fish caught, but left after 2 hours of pointless casting, due to a crumby spot.
Went to the legion hole and there I caught 5 more fish, the first one there on my second cast. Sounds like a banner day, but it was more like a fish/hour. That being said, though, every fish I caught were pretty fresh and pretty big. Well worth the 4 AM start, 2.5 hr drive, and the cold weather…we had about an inch of snow on the ground.
With the perfect water I thought more action should have been had, but glad I made the trip.
