A great morning

at the Yellow Creek Trout Club.

Got there at dawn and fished until noon.  Got a bunch, including this big, below the new dam.  Went to the pond and got one there, but not any of the bigs that Steve stocked last week.

The creek was a 10.  My highlight was watching a mink at the pond.

Opener 18

found my fishing buddy sick.  So I soloed to the Yellow Creek Trout Club.

Got 5 at Campbell’s dam, but gave the spot up to a guy and his son.

Hit a long drought, but found another 7 fish below the new dam.  The fish weren’t jumping in the creel, but all in all a pretty decent day.  80 degrees today!

Hit Erie

and started at the secret spot.  Picked up a few on the sage bugger and on the orange sucker spawn.  Amazingly, I had the creek to myself.  The pic came from that spot.

Hit the Legion hole and did pretty well there, on the sage bugger as well.  It got crowded so I went upstream and did well in the hole above the legion.  No one there.  Did meet a follower of this blog there.

Moved to 16 Mile Run and saw one fish there.  No one on the creek.

Final total was 9 for the day.  My best day in Erie this year.

Cool weather and stained water

Met me and a bunch of guys at the Yellow Creek Trout Club today.

I did manage 9 fish, but I covered a lot of water in doing so.  Saw Al at the pavilion and we had a good time shooting the bull and catching up on things.

This guy came from above the lower quad bridge on a mop fly.
