January Stocking

at the Yellow Creek Trout Club, and once again, Steve Renosky knocked it out of the park.

With all the crazy weather we put in over 200 fish, minimum 15 inches including this palomino.  The pic might not show it, but this fish is 7-8 pounds.  We put in a rainbow at the boulder hole that was pushing 10 pounds.

With the downpour and pending ice I had to beat a hasty retreat to home.  The weather this week is going to be bad for 6 days…..and then I shall return.

An oddity

occurred at the Yellow Creek Trout Club.

Wasted an hour on the big palomino.  Went to the lower quad and hooked a fish, who broke my line at the tippet knot.  Hate leaving the line and fly in a fish, but could not retrieve it to rectify the situation.

Fished down stream and picked up a small bow and returned to the spot where I broke off the fish.  Wouldn’t you know it…I caught him again!

Took the fly and leader out from our first go round and removed the new fly and sent him on his merry way.  Unreal.

Catch and release works for sure.

Erie

was  deserted with people.

Started at the secret hole in Steretannia; one guy there.  There were fish, but I had no luck there.

Went to the Legion Hole.  One guy there.  He said he had a field day and told me I was the only guy he saw all day.  I hooked some fish there, landing 2 and losing a bunch.  Hooked one in the upper hole there.

Hit 16 on the way back to the cabin.  0 guys there, great water, saw one fish, but could not hook any.  Chautauqua Creek had one car there.

The water conditions were great, fish were there, I just gotta pick better spots to start my day.

December stocking

at the club went really well.

Steve Renosky (as usual) just crammed the creek full of fish.  Some really big ones including a 2 foot palomino and some rainbows that rival anything guys are catching in Erie.

Hope to get up this week for some action, that only the Yellow Creek Trout Club can provide.
