Hit Chautauqua Creek

in near perfect conditions.  Did not catch a fish, see a fish, or talk to any person who caught a fish.

Steve cancelled the stocking last Friday, but will reschedule this week.  There is no better place to fish than the Yellow Creek Trout Club if you are looking to catch a big fish.  The Erie tribs are sporadic at best.  The club is loaded with big, cooperative fish, and great conditions currently and will only get better as the year progresses.

Steve has the Yellow Creek Trout Club facebook page up and running.  Please visit often for club activities, pictures, conditions, etc.

Speaking about conditions…hit the club yesterday and the creek was just perfect:  great flow, color, and the creek is full of fish.  I got a huge tiger on video yesterday, but when I played it back I was not in the lens finder!  This is the second time I did this, the last time a year or so ago.  What is it they say about the one that got away?  Trust me, it was a beauty.  Saw other guys doing well.  Though a little chilly I managed 7 hrs of fishing before calling it a day.

Stocked the Yellow Creek Trout Club

and man did Steve stock the monsters.

Huge browns, bows, and some brooks that would knock your socks off.

Below is Paul with a nice brown we put in.  very stop had at least one “big” and added to the many that have been stocked and held over the creek is just bustin with fish.  A good flow, a great stocking, and seasonable weather should make for some really great fishing at the club.paulstocking

Tough fishing

due to low and clear water.

Managed 3 fish.  Talked to Steve and he put me on a pod of really big fish.  Unfortunately they had lock jaw.  But I will be heading to that spot on my next trip up, you can bet on that.

The fish were there for sure, the conditions were tough.brooknov

Low, clear, but cooperative fish

honeyholebow

The creek was low and clear today, but the fish didn’t mind.

I used really small sucker spawn and they worked from the pavilion to the Campbell’s dam.  I managed at least 4 fish over 20 inches.  The hole above the curve, the dam below the lower quad and the honey hole all pulled through.

Met some guys from Gettysburg that shared my opinion of Erie, the fish just aren’t there.clubbrown

This is a brown I got above the curve and one of the guys was nice enough to net him.
