Cold and rainy

but the fish didn’t mind.

Today it was quality, not quantity.  Landed 5 over 20 and caught the palomino.  Four of the fish and the goldy are all on video.  Saw other guys doing as well as I did or better.  The club did not disappoint today.

The still of the palomisundaambowno is a printscreen from the video, hence the lousy color as are the other still shots I posted today.palominoo

Started out like a whirlwind

and had like 10 fish in an hour.

Hit a drought for a while then finished the day off at the Black Hole with a bang.  One bow was from the lower quad bridge and 2 were from the Black Hole.  Saw only 2 other people there, and they left in a short time, leaving me all alone with the snow, the peace, and……..the fish.novbow1novbow2novbow3

Steve caught this big fish

at the club yesterday…what a beauty.  This is on a 5 wt with 4x tippet.

My fish came from Elk Creek on a 7 wt with 3x tippet.  You can clearly see why the Yellow Creek Trout Club is such a great place to fish.  Big fish, plenty of them, no crowds, easy drive.  Need I say more?steve's monstersteelie

Fish story

This is not about the one that got away, or the 2 that got away, but the 3 that got away.

I finally hooked the fish below the lower quad bridge I have been trying for for a month, fired the video camera, and chased him upstream where the fly popped out of his mouth.

The second was above the bridge and while walking off the bridge my line entangled in the brush, the fish swam under ice, and my line then broke.

Number three was at the black hole and the same story, different bridge.  Hook pops out of the mouth.  All 3 fish were 24 or better.  The one pictured is a 20 incher and the 14 degree day (warmed to 30 before I left) still provided over 15 fish for me.  I ain’t complaining, but……3 lunkers, oh, brother!prettybow
