Steve called

brookie123and after talking to him I had to drop everything and head to the club…reason?  Steve said he had his best day ever there.  That was enough for me.

Following his lead I grabbed my centerpin and started out after the palominos above the pavilion where I hooked a bow on my first cast.  Hooked a goldy on my 2nd (but lost him).  Usually a fish on the first cast means I am doomed.  But not so on this day.

I actually counted fish, something I rarely do and wound up with 37 fish.

The hole above the curve….around 10, Al’s rock, around 10, the hole above the lower quad, around the same, and the curve, pavilion hole, walking bridge providing the rest.

Highlight was a 20″ brookie at the walking bridge.

Paula’s Birthday

So I had to hit and run so I could be home at a reasonable hour.

Had some luck above the curve, above the lower quad and at the last wooden dam.

Lost the big palomino above the Joe Barna hole, but did get this beaut just above the pavilion.  Steve was there to help land and photo the fish.

Steve has made a lot of great improvements:  new floor and padding in the pavilion.  A wood supply that will rival any.  Moved electric wires.  Just to name a few.  The amount of fish and size is beyond belief.

Saw 4 bows spawning.  That was a cool way to end the day.  Happy Birthday, Paula.  Happy Easter fellow anglers.  God bless.stevpal

Another opening day

at Brookeville was rained out with the water being too high to fish.  The stream and fly project were both muddy.

So I went over to the trout club and as always, the fishing and company was great.

Al, Nate, and Ashley showed up and they all caught fish, especially Al.  Met some new members and they were catching fish as well.

I spent a lot of time fishing for palominos and my persistence paid off………another opening day comes and goes.palllllll

A bust

at the cabin, as far as fishing goes.

16 mile was perfect.  It had no fish.

Chautauqua was high and muddy, though perfect as I was heading home.

Elk is full of fish…suckers and smolt.

Opening day on Sat.  Heading to Little Sandy and the fly project in Brookeville.

The one that got away….part 5

After stocking I decided to fish for a while before meeting with John P to discuss the upcoming tournament.

I picked up one of the small palominos at the pavilion dam.  Following the meeting I went down to see my old friend, the zombie.  I hooked  him yet again on my second cast while standing on the bridge.  This time I had him on for a few minutes…………..before losing him for the fifth time.

I went up to the step dam looking for the palomino we stocked this morning, but to no avail.  The rains came and I decided to call it a day.

By the way.  Steve did it again with an awesome stocking.  The creek is packed with fish…just in time for the spring season at the YCTC.
