8 degrees

and off I went.
When I got there I went straight to the rock and again I tried for Mr. Big. Got a few small ones there, but no sign of the big bow.
Made my way down to the hole above the curve and caught some nice fish there. But the new hole above it was the place to fish. I really slammed them in there and got 3 on my first 3 casts.
From there I went to the walking bridge and the tan bugger worked some magic there….but then I had to go back to the rock for the big guy. A couple of small ones, but still no big guy.
I ain’t givin’ up though….I shall return. Man, does this warm house feel good after 6 hrs in this weather.

Got there

at dawn and got into some small browns right away. The hole above the curve continues to fish well. But the story of the day comes from the rock again.
I spent at least 2 hrs fishing for the big fish, and I think I caught/hooked every fish in that spot, except……the big one. Got a lot of follows from him, but could not connect…again.
The total today was about 15, nothing at the step dam….lots of tracks there and I think it is getting fished hard. Not one other person showed up today.
This fish came from the rock and was around 19-20 inches. Wooly buggers and orange egg patterns were the ticket, especially the buggers in tan.

Got to Yellow

really early. The air was cold, but the fishing was not. Apparently no one fished over the fresh stockers, and I started out at the step dam, caught 2, but decided to leave it and wait for Steve.
Met Steve at the lower quad bridge and we caught some there and in the hole below it. Steve picked up 3 there , one after the other. On the way back upstream we stopped at the lower end of the lower quad bridge and picked up more fish there.
When we got to the step dam we had a mini clinic there, 7 or so more fish.
Steve was heading out and around 2 I stopped at the rock and absolutely hammered fish in there.
The big fish we stocked came into view, I put the orange bugger in front of him and I watched him swim over, inhale my bugger and I set the hook. The fly came right out of his mouth and never made contact! I was so bummed. He followed me in once after that, but did not hit me again. Heart still pounding I went to the car, got undressed, and left for home around 3. Oh, well, I will get him the next time….guaranteed.

Neither rain, nor sleet, or SNOW

could stop Steve from stocking the club today.
Got there at 10 and met Steve and Mike at the garage. Jumped on the quads and as usual stocked the club from top to bottom. Put in some really nice fish. 3″ of snow fell, but the roads are clean, the creek well stocked and I sure have the urge to get back up and catch a few of these beauts. Here is Steve with one of the many we put in the creek.

Ended the year

fishing the club with Dan, Zach, and Al.
We managed to catch some nice fish all up and down the creek as we fished every inch of it.
The top end provided 2 fish around 18-19 and the pic shows Zach fighting his fish. Saw a bunch below the lower quad bridge and picked up a few there. The hole above the curve yielded a few small fish, but where are the 6 bigs I personally stocked in there?
Dan got a really nice fish below the big dam, though not as big as the one he bagged last week. A fellow buddy (did not ask him to give his name here) got a 22″ fish at the step dam, where Steve and I pounded fish in there last week.
The unusually warm weather, the friends all fishing, etc brings 2010 to an end. Can’t wait to kick off the new year, and the new season for 2011. Happy New Year and may God bless…..Mike
