Erie 2

Went to legion, water was perfect, however, the 40 mph wind blew so many leaves in the creek….with 5 shot, i could not hit bottom…Caught 3 there and saw one other jack caught. period. Only 6 people there.
Went above the upper hole and fished the riffle and caught a beaut there on my first cast…now the good/bad news…

Went to the secret hole and I kid you not, I could not see the bottom due to fish..big fish …50 maybe 60

That being said I hooked 3 and they were probably fouled. Ultra clear there and the fish were really spooked and no cover there for them. I wasted a good 2-3 hrs there, determined to find the right bait, to no avail. The secret hole is the place to fish, and check this out, there were 4 people there, period…

Great day, but it really could have been awesome….darn wind.

Stocked yet again

and we put in some real beautes. If I forget my card in my camera one more time, I’m gonna scream.
The boulder hole got some really nice fish and the rain we got is gonna help out the club a lot.
Steve is the hero of the day, rescuing a kitten, and taking it to a local shelter.
I put a pic of a steelie from the last Erie trip on this entry.

Erie 10

Made the first trip up this morning with the nephews Sean and Dan. Those two guys put on a clinic at the Legion Hole today.
Met them at first light and they were standing in the creek, rods a ready. At first light we all got into fish and continued catching them pretty much all morning. All you had to do was change a color every so often and the fish were in an obliging mood for sure.
Sean got a 12.5 pounder and Dan got a few near the 10 lb mark. It was my best day on Erie in the last 3 trips from last season. Fresh fish and plenty of them. Crowded, but all of the fisherman were courteous and we all had a great time.

Stocked the second time

ths fall and this time we stocked her pretty good and put 8 fish in at 20″ and above. The last one was a monster bow above the lower quad bridge.
I did fish before the stocking (but not after, due to animal shelter activities this weekend). We put in some beauties for sure.
We still need some rain and hopefully we will get it this week. I will fish this Wed and post updates, unless the water conditions continue to be low.

First stocking

good friend Walt reminded me I have not posted lately, so here goes.
Steve stocked for the first time this season and put in 180 fish. All of which were nice and quite a few pushing the 20″ mark.
I returned the following day and caught some nice fish, and this one came from the corner below the walking bridge dam.
The most amazing thing was not seeing a single other person there. I shared the club with some deer, and no one else. The creek was really low, a little lower than I like….but as my mom said, we gotta take whatever the good Lord gives us.
