We drew 2 really good beats. Dan starred and Al and Nate did well in the fish count.
I completely tanked. I don’t know why I lost the fish I hooked, but I did. No excuses, I just tanked. I even managed to fall in 3 times throughout the day, once with a lunker on, which I promptly lost. We had the boulder hole beat and the curve, 2 of my favorite spots, and I came up with one of my worst fishing days at the club ever.
No excuses, but the tournament itself was a success and money raised for a good cause.
Did manage a few after the tourney, but during…………..
Will post some pic’s of the fish after the event and would have posted this sooner, but my internet was down.
Happy belated Mother’s Day

Tournament is tomorrow
so I went up to help stock fish. A double stocking at that.
Steve put in so many big fish, and even the average ones were really nice.
I fished before we stocked and at the curve I lost a monster who tangled me under and around a boulder and I almost had to cut my fly line! Luckily I was able to untangle it, but I would pay $20 to just see the fish I lost.
I did catch some really nice fish, a couple of big bows and a couple of big browns. Caught another big bow at the pavillion. Hope I can do as well tomorrow.
Really warm today
while the fishing was about the same.
I lost a monster above the curve. He took me under a branch and I got hung up and lost him.
I did catch 3 really nice fish around 20″ at the walking bridge.
Funny, I caught a brown on my first cast, just like last week. I thought that would signal a banner day. It was a good day, but not banner.
Broke out the old 5 wt today, what a sweet rod…
The tournament is next Fri.
Low, clear, uncrowded….perfect
My first fish of the day was the brown. I hooked him outside the mouth, so the fight was on. It was my first cast and first fish.
As I have stated, I could sight fish, so i concentrated on the bigger fish.
One bow came from the walking bridge and the other 2 came from the dam just below that bridge. There is a rainbow in that hole that is pushing 28. I hooked him last week and had him looking today, but put no metal to him. I will try to get him my next trip up.
Saw Al as I was leaving.
Opening Day 10
Went to Brookeville with Dan, Sean, and met the same crowd as last year.
Cold, sleet, snow, and did I mention it was cold?
We all hooked up right away, and we saw 4 monsters caught. A huge palamino, bow, and 2 browns all of which were released unharmed. Our fish of the day was caught by Dan and it is pictured.
Sean’s new truck is awesome.
Can’t wait for the opening day next year.
The project gave up some small fish in the afternoon, but nowhere near the number from last week.
