Light up day

If Friday was light up nite in Pitts, then Sat was light up day at Erie.
Al, Dan, Sean, and I arrived at the creek at dawn.  The ride up and
over was a little hairy due to the snow.  The conditions were cold,
but the water was near perfect.  We caught over 50 fish; most did
show signs of being in there a while.  Chartruse eggs, egg, and
light roe in larger sizes were the ticket.
Found a new spot that I want to revisit when the water is a little
lower.  Lots of fish, lots of laughs, lots of snow, and lots of
commaradary on Elk.

Erie 11/5

Went to the secret spot with Sean and Dan.  I would have preferred the legion hole, but glad I stayed there.  The fish were in and we had a ball catching them.  I would guess, we caught over 50 between us.  Dan, in really fast water, Sean in mod fast water, and me in the deeper riffles.

Wooly buggers and large sucker spawns were the ticket today.  It poured the entire time and Erie got the much needed rain, turning the creek high and muddy.  No complaints though as we got in 7 hrs of pretty darn good fishing.

The Club

fished well on Sunday.  Al, Dan, Sean and I caught quite a few fish.  The creek was really low.  I hooked one of the palaminoes, but lost him at my boots….no net and this time no excuse.  Could not find the other one we stocked.  Lost a monster at the step dam due to a knot that unraveled on me.  I have a saying that your tackle is the one thing you have control over, and I can make no excuses for a bad knot and lack of a net.

That being said, we had a great time and spent the last hour in front of a nice fire and talked about the world in general.  Always a pleasure when the friends and nephews are there to share the day with.  We desperately need rain at the club and at Erie, which we might hit later this week.

Erie

is full of fish and full of fisherman.

Started out at the access area in the mud hole.  Caught a real beaut there and believe it or not, the guy had his thumb in front of the camera for not one, but 2 pic’s of the fish.  Orange woolies and egg spawn were the flies of choice.  There was a guide there chumming with eggs, and man, did his client clean up using egg sacks (bait).  I got 6 landed in total and missed as many on LRR.

Went to the legion hole and the bottom was covered with spooky fish.  After putsing there for a half hour I went to the lower hole and the same thing there.  Erie is loaded with fish, but lacking water.
