Low, low, low

I went to the club today….very little water.
I lost a monster below the lower quad bridge, because I forgot my net, again.  Went to the uppermost dam and caught two 20 inch fish there.  Caught about 15 in all, but it took 6 1/2 hours of hard fishing to do it.
I saw 2 whoppers caught at the pavilion dam (below) and at the walking bridge by 2 other guys
Saw more deer than I could count……..

After stocking

Al and I went up to the club.  Though low, the fish really did cooperate and we had a 40 fish day between the two of us.  The fresh stockers hit buggers  and the oldies were hitting smaller subsurface stuff.  I lost 2 over 20 at the boots and landed two near the 20″ mark.  Posting this pic of a nice bow.

The brookies are in their spawn colors and they look awesome.  The 130 we stocked were a great addition to those put in previously.  We need rain.

Erie

Went to Erie for the first run of what I hope will be many. Met Dan and Sean at the Elk access at 6:30. From there we took a shortcut to the “log hole”. Little did we know the mud was 2 feet deep there. I proceeded to fall backwards, dominoing Sean backwards and we both lay in the mud laughing our heads off, which by the way, the yucks continued throughout the day. Dan had so many one liners I would have to write a book to list them all. Wonder how Sean’s blog will read.

Sean started the day by catching one right off the bat. After 3 fruitless hours I went down to the mudhole where I caught a nice steelie. Upon my return Sean had 3 and Dan caught 2.

I wouldn’t have traded this day for another. That being said I gotta go and get my vest and jacket out of the washer. That Erie mud sure does stink!

Yellow Breeches

I just got back from visiting an old friend, the Yellow Breeches. The water was really low and clear and quite frankly I have seen more fish in the stream, especially at the spring itself. The locals say it was just stocked, can’t imagine how few I would have seen if it hadn’t been.

I did manage to catch a few on Wednesday afternoon, one 20” brown and managed a few on Thursday morning, including a 20” bow and another nice brownie around 19. It took me downstream where I met a new friend. Sent him an email and waiting for his reply.

Landed all of them in a “bad location”, so the pic’s don’t do them justice.

The dam in progress, another view

This is the new dam from a side view.  The work is a little farther along than I have pictured here.

Steve (pictured) is stocking this Friday at 9 and I am glad to see the season kicking off.

Check out fisherie.com and look at the rave reviews of the Renosky lures this week on the walleyes of Erie.
